84. Dark energy as emergent qualia-fragmentation
In modern cosmology dark energy is the term for the unknown mechanism that drives the accelerating expansion of the universe. It constitutes approximately 68 per cent of the universe’s total energy content. No one knows what it is.
In the EC/HE theory dark energy is the manifest consequence of continuous emergence and relational differentiation in KNOWING. Energy is the qualia-experience of emergent differences. Each time new relations arise and are reorganised through the Experience Circle, new forms of manifest energy are generated as direct expressions of these changes.
But not all emergent energy is stabilised as local attractors, particles or manifest matter. Large parts of the continuous reorganisation remain in diffuse and unstable relational states that never achieve full stabilisation. Dark energy is the cumulative effect of this persistent background field of incompletely organised relations — fragmented qualia that has not found its attractor.
This is the phase of the out-breath. THE RECOIL PRINCIPLE entails that no differentiation can continue without limit — every movement carries within it the condition for its counter-movement. The universe’s accelerating expansion is therefore not a one-way process towards eternal cold and emptiness. It is the phase of the pulse in which fragmentation is at its most intense, just before the recoil sets in.
When the total relational complexity and information saturation becomes sufficiently high, the capacity for further stable differentiation weakens. Attractor Dynamics begins to favour simpler and more stable organisations. Relational structures are drawn together, reorganised and collapse back towards more fundamental attractors. The universe begins to leave behind its own complex manifestations.
Dark energy therefore does not merely point towards expansion, but towards a deeper cosmological pulse between differentiation and gathering — out-breath and in-breath, fragmentation and reorganisation. It is THE RECOIL PRINCIPLE at cosmological scale.
The universe is like a bonfire. What began as a spark spreads outward in ever more fragmented heat and light — until the energy is spread too thinly to sustain the flame. Then the collapse back towards the embers begins. And in the embers lies the condition for the next ignition.
