12. THE FIRST CHANGE
E1 represents the first understanding of the original SENSATION.
For the first time the experience is understood as something definite.
This understanding is the first change.
Change is therefore not the original SENSATION, but the first conceptualisation of it.
What was previously experienced only as qualia has now been understood as a difference.
As a separation.
As a change.
For the first time there thus exists a concept that can be remembered, related, compared and incorporated into further understanding.
The first change therefore represents the first stable understanding in KNOWING.
