22.4. Intuition, meditation and the mixed experience

So how can we distinguish between the Ego spin and the authentic you?

I started this book by pointing to a trait we humans have that we do not always fully understand, namely intuition.

I said that intuition gives us immediate, indisputable, true and silent knowledge. For some, it manifests as emotions and impulses; others can receive knowledge, but in a form that is not analytical, i.e. is not the result of any cognitive process, but suddenly only is there.

The opposite of intuition is precisely analytical, cognitive information and know-how that emerges through comparisons, assessments and testing. The answers you get are often relative, debatable, halfway. They take time to arrive at.

The difference between analytical and intuitive knowledge is the difference between Ego and the Collective.

Intuition is collective knowledge that penetrates into the Ego. Or rather, when the Ego occasionally is not occupied with anything, the Collective – which is always there – shines through.

The experience is short-lived because the Ego immediately intervenes and overrides. Therefore we get glimpses of intuition. It is said, and I myself experience, that such glimpses last for only a few seconds, up to five or six.

This simple fact has helped me to «save» a wide range of insights before they diffuse. I brake abruptly on the bike, always have my mobile ready in my breast pocket and hurry to record the new aha experience, the epiphany.

With a bit of practice, it is possible to feel what is «true» and «false» knowledge, i.e. what comes from the Collective, the Experiencer – and the private, the Ego.

Listening to intuition is thus one method of being in the Collective.

Another is to do what Hinduism recommends as the fourth path to awakening, that is, meditation. Then the technique is to silence the Ego so that only intuition remains.

I have my expression for this, «listening to the stalk». Again, this is «varhet» – silencing the Ego and sensing with maximum awareness what is behind, what is now, what is real.

We are not separated from the Experiencer; we just believe it is so and thus experience it as well.

We walk around in a mixed experience.

You experience yourself as something separate, a separate human being, but you are still the Experiencer and know and act as the Experiencer.

You have «forgotten» and mask what you really are because your focus is on your experience of being a separate self. You spend all your time capturing and normalising everything your Ego creates and experiences.

From your perspective, it seems like everything is coming toward you, but in reality, it is the other way around. You create the notion that something is coming toward you.

If you had managed to forget yourself, you would have seen and known everything as the Experiencer sees and knows everything. Dissociation masks for the Source. The experience of being you is so compelling that it wins over all other experiences you could have had. The idea of «you» is the strongest attractor.

The exception is when you forget yourself for a moment, lay down the Ego's many weapons, rest – but at the same time are awake and highly aware. Then intuition emerges.

So there is an interface between you and the Experiencer. This is often called «the veil» in the spiritual lingua because it is thin, in reality, non-existent.

There is no such transition or boundary. There is no place to go. Never. You are and will always be the Experiencer, but right now, you have an experience of being you.

By the way, I need to clarify something. I have been using a whole family of terms without explaining their relationship.

The Pattern, the Source, the Collective and the Experiencer.
  • The Pattern is the spacetime-field, which forms a geometrical pattern interpreted as accumulations, leading to the notions of mass, forces and motion. It's the zero-point field of physics. It's a technical thing in the mind of the Experiencer, just as time and space etc., are notions in your mind, but you never hardly give it any attention.
  • The Source is the Experiencer's interpretation of the Pattern. It sees particles and light, rocks and plants, living creatures and galaxies – like a child sees fantastic things in the clouds. The idea of individual human beings arises here, resulting in myriad dissociations.
  • The Collective is the sum of the interpretations of every dissociated Ego – plus the original Source interpretation of the Experiencer. The mixing of the two happens through complexity dynamics, but the Source always wins whenever there is a conflict. The losing notions of the countless Egos are simply discarded as untrue and not memorised.

The Collective plays a role whenever clusters of dissociated minds meet, for example, when groups of people are together. Their individual interpretations mix and compete and influence each other, like the flames in a bonfire. The most vital interpretations, in turn, are joined with the Source.

Remember, the whole system is fluid, flexible, without boundaries, dynamic and complex. The Collective, thus, is the mixture of Source «truth» and all Ego interpretations and experiences in the whole universe.

It is the «mixed experience» I talked about, the one we are all in. Source truth is the same as intuitive knowledge.
  • The Experiencer is all of this, or rather, the divine, spiritual subject experiencing it all. There is absolutely no way to characterise this being from our perspective.
